CraftForms vs Barn2 Product Options

WooCommerce Product Options by Barn2 is a premium-only WooCommerce extension: 16 field types, per-choice fees, a price formula field, conditional logic and, as a paid bundle, a Live Preview add-on for text and image personalisation. It’s well reviewed and backed by Barn2’s support reputation, and it’s the most expensive tool in this category. CraftForms covers product options as one part of a full form, booking and payments platform. The real question is whether your prices are simple add-on fees or real maths.

Soon on the CraftForms roadmap. Competitor details as published on the date above; tell us if something has changed.

Where CraftForms leads

  • Price. Barn2 starts at $149/yr for one site ($399/yr for 50), lifetime from $499 for one site, and Live Preview is only sold in a $199/yr bundle. CraftForms is €50.99/yr or €129.99 once for unlimited sites, so five client stores cost less than one Barn2 licence
  • Lookup tables. Barn2 has no price matrix, so width × drop or size × material pricing means nested if() formulas. CraftForms takes a CSV and does closest-up lookup, which is how made-to-measure businesses actually price
  • SKU, stock, weight and shipping from options. In Barn2 only the Products field carries stock or a SKU, and options can’t change weight or shipping class. CraftForms builds a dynamic SKU, tracks stock per SKU and sets weight, dimensions and shipping class, all without WooCommerce variations
  • Bookings with real availability. Barn2’s date field collects a date and its docs refer you to another plugin to prevent double bookings. CraftForms has day, time-slot and continuous-range inventory plus iCal sync
  • Repeaters. Barn2 has none and suggests hiding pre-built copies behind conditional logic. CraftForms has a real repeater (team kit names, engraving lines, rooms)
  • Conditional logic without the group boundary. Barn2 conditions only work inside one option group; CraftForms conditions see every field and Smart Variable in the form
  • Cart and Checkout blocks. Barn2’s cart editing doesn’t work with the blocks that new WooCommerce stores use by default. CraftForms cart editing covers the Cart block, Mini-cart and side carts
  • Image tools for print and photo shops. Image Cropper, Picture Frame and Layered Image are included in the paid plans, not sold as a bundle
  • Migration. Barn2 imports only its own JSON. CraftForms ships a Uni CPO importer and form and WooCommerce bundles with images
  • Everything outside the product page: quote and contact forms, payments without WooCommerce, orders, PDFs, the email designer, webhooks and external embeds

Where Barn2 has a clear edge

  • Bulk assignment. One option group can target all products, categories or user roles, with exclusions. Adding “Gift wrap +$5” to 400 products is one setting; in CraftForms a form is reusable but linked product by product
  • Zero-formula pricing. Each choice has its own price type (flat, %, quantity-based, per character, per file), so simple add-ons need no setup beyond the choice itself
  • Products as options and “variations as options”. Customers can pick other store products, with their stock and SKU, inside the options
  • Multi-step, tabs and popup layouts are built in (CraftForms: roadmap)
  • Ecosystem. Options work inside Barn2 Product Table, Quick View Pro, Restaurant Ordering and Fast Cart
  • Live Preview personalisation. Customers can move and resize text and images on a print area, with Google Fonts
  • Multi-currency through Aelia, which CraftForms doesn’t integrate with
  • Support reputation. Most Barn2 reviews are about their support
